The problem parents see

Travel sports made them specialized. They didn’t make them athletic.

If your child plays a one-sided sport — baseball, softball, golf, tennis, volleyball, throwing events, even soccer — the same patterns get hammered every week. The result is usually the same: tight hips, sloppy posture, fragile feet, and power that doesn’t show up in games.

  • Looks strong in the weight room, not faster on the field
  • Same-side tightness, shoulder/elbow/knee nagging pain
  • Early specialization and too many games, not enough movement quality
  • Generic “speed & agility” ladders that don’t fix how they actually move
  • You want a scholarship-level body and a healthier kid, not burnout

How IWA works

A simple path from “interested” to “they look different.”

1. Talk + trial

Tell us age, sport, and schedule. Your athlete comes in for a short trial block so we can watch how they stand, walk, throw, cut, and produce power.

2. Fix the athlete

We rebuild the patterns that sports break: posture, rotational power, foot strength, deceleration, and game-speed movement. Shoes off for a reason.

3. Train for the season

Ongoing small-group training plus nutrition and recovery habits so they show up ready, not cooked. Team training available on request.

Why this is not a typical gym class

We train for sport and life, not for Instagram lifts.

Most programs live in the same up-and-down lifts. Games are played moving through space and rotating. That’s why IWA is a no-shoes training floor with a bias toward standing, walking, throwing, and explosive rotation — then we add strength that actually transfers.

You’ll also hear us talk about light, sleep, and screens. Not as a lecture. As the difference between a kid who recovers and a kid who stays inflamed.

Your athlete will work on

  • Asymmetry and posture from repetitive sport play
  • Rotational power for their position
  • Speed, agility, and movement technique
  • Foot and plantar strength
  • Pre-game nutrition and recovery
  • A calmer, more competitive mindset
  • Fitness and confidence even if they are not on a travel team

Schedule

Show up. We’ll do the programming.

Class times

Mornings: Monday–Saturday, 9:45 am (sometimes open on Sunday, if needed)

Evenings: Monday–Thursday, 4:30, 5:30, and 7:30 pm

We do not run ultra-early sessions. Recovery and biology matter if you want durable athletes.

Who it’s for

Athletes and active kids ages 8–22 from New Albany, Gahanna, Westerville, Columbus, and surrounding suburbs. Online options available if you can’t make the floor.

Parents say

“After six weeks he was first-step quicker and the shoulder tightness from pitching finally calmed down.”

George Zartsky

“This is not babysitting. They coach feet, posture, and effort. She wants to come back.”

Mike Rudnicki

“We came for speed. We stayed because he stopped getting banged up every other week.”

FAQ parents actually ask

Is this safe for a beginner or a younger athlete?

Yes. Ages start at 8. We coach movement first. Kids are not thrown into max lifting or copy-the-varsity workouts.

Do they have to train barefoot?

On our floor, yes. Strong feet change how they sprint, cut, and land. We’ll explain why in the first session.

What does the trial include?

A short onboarding window so your athlete can feel the coaching and we can see if IWA is the right fit. Submit the form and we’ll send exact dates, what to wear, and what it costs to continue.

My child isn’t on a travel team. Can they still come?

Yes. Fitness, confidence, and better movement count. The training still applies.

Not doing anything is not an option.

If your athlete is already practicing 4–6 days a week, the missing piece is usually better training — not more games.
